Insider guide
Shopping Downtown.
The story
Downtown's retail core runs along Pine St from Third Ave to Seventh Ave and on Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Aves between Pike St and Olive Way, around Westlake Park. Three buildings anchor it: Nordstrom's flagship, Westlake Center and Pacific Place. Many national chains have left since 2020, so the mix is smaller than older guides suggest, and Pacific Place now leans on pop-ups.
Flagships and Fine Jewelry
Nordstrom's downtown store is a multi-floor department store for shoes, clothing and cosmetics, and the Louis Vuitton boutique on the building's second level (Suite 200) offers collect-in-store for online orders. Next door, Westlake Center holds Nordstrom Rack, Zara and Fireworks, a Seattle gift chain selling jewelry, home decor and gifts from more than 300 artists. Nordstrom Rack is set to move to a 39,000-square-foot store at 601 Pine St (Sixth and Pine) in spring 2027, so check which address is open.
Two jewelers are on Fifth Ave. Ben Bridge Jeweler's flagship at Fifth Ave and Pine St, across from Nordstrom, opened in 2023 after 94 years at Fourth and Pike and carries its own bridal and fine jewelry collections plus luxury watches. Turgeon Raine is the city's authorized Patek Philippe retailer and makes custom pieces for clients. Mario's, in Seattle since 1982, is a two-story men's and women's clothier with Italian suiting, avant-garde New York designers and luxury basics.
Pacific Place and Local Makers
Pacific Place fills its suites with pop-ups through the city's Seattle Restored program, so expect rotating local shops rather than chains. The Handmade Showroom (Suite 330, third floor) sells local makers' cards, art prints, candles, bath goods, jewelry, bags and snacks, and runs classes. Transcend (#C10) is a sustainable fashion flagship with a visible production studio, making natural-fiber clothing and upcycled gifts with refugee and immigrant seamstresses and offering tailoring. Pumarosa Candles (level 1) sells handmade soy candles with crackling wooden wicks and runs candle-making workshops.
Beyond Pine Street
John Fluevog Shoes has been here since 1985; it was the brand's first US store and the place its Angel shoes were first made. Arc'teryx is a brand store and service center with ReBIRD repairs, trade-ins for store credit and warranty help. Barnes & Noble opened its roughly 18,000-square-foot store at Sixth and Pike on May 6, 2026, with books, toys, games and gifts. Down at the Seattle Art Museum, the SAM Shop sells jewelry, Northwest Native design, local-maker goods and art books, and SAM Gallery sells original art.
Eating and Timing
For a long lunch, The George in the Fairmont Olympic Hotel has a raw bar and seafood towers, and Ben Paris in the State Hotel cooks updated American dishes near Pike Place Market. Metropolitan Grill (820 2nd Ave) is the classic steakhouse, Charlotte Restaurant & Lounge sits on the 16th floor of the Lotte Hotel (809 5th Ave) with city views, Phởcific Standard Time (1923 7th Ave) is known for crab nachos, and Palace Kitchen (2030 5th Ave) in Belltown serves until midnight.
Westlake and Symphony Link light rail stations serve the district, many King County Metro routes stop on Third Ave at Pike and Pine, and Pacific Place has an underground garage. Department and luxury stores run about 10am–8pm Monday to Saturday with shorter Sunday hours. Louis Vuitton keeps Mon–Sat 10am–8pm and Sun 11am–7pm, Fluevog Mon–Sat 11am–7pm and Sun noon–6pm, and The Handmade Showroom daily noon–7pm. The SAM Shop opens Wednesday to Sunday, to 8pm on Thursday. Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Zara, Ben Bridge, Turgeon Raine, Mario's and Barnes & Noble don't post hours, so call ahead.
